Case For Support

Imagine that you are a parent with young children – you’ve lost your job, your home, and have exhausted your resources to keep your family safe, fed, clothed, and housed. Imagine you have nowhere to turn as you hold your youngest child in your arms and pray for an answer.

Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley (FPofSCV) is an affiliate of a national non-profit organization that operates in over 200 cities in 43 states. For more than ten years, FPofSCV has served families with minor children that are experiencing homelessness.

When a family is in a state of emergency, we wrap our services around them and lift them into a safe place with solid solutions and a holistic approach. This includes resources such as transitional housing, referral to social service agencies, support in securing housing, employment, childcare assistance, and other needed services. Families are matched with resources that offer an opportunity to become self-sufficient and securely housed. We provide a hand up when local families experiencing homelessness have nowhere else to turn.

Due to Covid-19, the reality of homelessness in our community has been compounded and devastating. Since March 2020, we have served over 180 homeless families through sheltering and/or providing case management services to find employment, housing, and social service benefits.

FPofSCV supports nearly 40 families annually through housing them in our Transitional House and sheltering them in motels, as they work to secure permanent housing and employment. Over 76% of our guests are single mothers of young children experiencing situational homelessness. No child should be without a safe shelter and a place to call home. They need your help. They need it now. Sadly, by the time you read this, the number of families that need our help will have multiplied.

In the following pages you will find additional information about FPofSCV’s Building Hope…Our Family Promise Capital Campaign and how you can join hands and hearts with us to build a 2,700 square foot Resource Center and four 815 square foot Affordable Housing Units. Family Promise has partnered with local builder Williams Homes and non-profit organization HomeAid Los Angeles to break ground in the Fall of 2021 and complete the build by the end of 2022. Williams Homes’ will donate their own staff time and will request in-kind donations and bids for reduced labor and material costs to cover approximately 30% of the $2.6 million build costs. Right now there are families wondering how they’ll get through another day, where they will sleep or how they will feed their children. Please help us solve the unacceptable reality of homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley. This is the place that we call home, and we are counting on our caring, generous community to join us. Together, we can change lives and deliver on our promise to families that we will be there for them and help clear a path towards housing stability and self-sufficiency.
