What can you do to help families in need?
Lots!

There are many ways you can help. No matter the size of your involvement, anything (and everything) you can do or give will help in a big way.

 

The following are various ways you can help.

Make a Financial Contribution
Family Promise maintains low operating costs, but still relies on the generosity of local individuals, service clubs, businesses, and congregations for support. One-time donations, recurring donations, Special Fund Raising Events, or Club 365 (giving a dollar a day) can easily be done by clicking on the link below.

Attention! Our Family Resource Center is in desparate need of renovation before we can open and actually start helping families.  Be a Sponsor, like Saint Clare's Church, which has collectively donated $1,000 designated to renovate one of the bathrooms in our future Resource Center.  If you can donate all or even a portion to a specific area of the Resource Center's renovation, you would be helping us gey that much closer to opening up and helping families.

The following targets are set to renovate these areas of the center:

$2,000 - Computer Area ( Funds to cover costs for cat 5 wiring, wireless router, computers, printer, scanner, construct workstations, purchase chairs, lighting, windows, ceiling fan)
$1,000 - Director's Office ( Purchase windows, desk, chair, computer, printer, lighting, paint, ceiling fan
$1,000 - Family Bathroom ( Purchase shower/bathtub, sink, fixtures, floor tile, vanity, toilet, paint)
$2,000 - Kitchen ( Purchase refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, ceiling fan, combination microwave/vent hood, build eating counter, floor tile, install cabinets, new electrical, paint, windows)
$1,500 - Living Room ( Remove asbestos ceiling, new carpet, furniture, new sliding door, windows, floor tile, dishwasher)
$1,000 - Nursery ( Funds to purchase cribs, changing tables, rocking chair, paint, drywall, mural painting, windows, ceiling fan)

Rooms that have already been accounted for:

$2,000 - Children’s Outdoor Playground (cushioned play surface, play structures, tables, chairs) by Valencia United Methodist Church
$1,000 - Nursery Bathroom ( toilet, sink, vanity, fixtures, paint, floor tiles, lighting) by Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church

Contribute Time. Volunteer.
There are lots of ways for volunteers to contribute their time and efforts in Family Promise. Training and orientation are provided for all volunteers.

• Host Congregations: Host Congregation volunteers provide hospitality to Family Promise guest families through their congregations. These volunteers provide meals, overnight hospitality, and a friendly face.

• Support Congregations: Support Congregations provide volunteers to a nearby Host Congregation to help support their team.

• Volunteer Coordinator (VC): Each Host and Support Congregation has a volunteer who coordinates hosting activities for their congregation. Volunteer Coordinators work closely with the Network Director to meet the needs of guest families. Click here for a current list of Congregational Coordinators.

• House Warming: These volunteers donate furniture, gather household supplies for guest families and help transport furniture when families are ready to move into their new homes.

• Family Center Volunteer: Assist with office needs such as answering phones or various clerical duties, as well as assisting our guest families while at the Family Center. Additional assistance is always needed on the weekends.

• Special Events/Board Committees: Family Promise needs many volunteers who are interested in assisting with special events or serving on a Board committee. Board committees include: Public Relations, Development, Finance, Nominations, Personnel and Special Events.

• Training/Tutoring for Guest Families: Share your skillsets by teaching classes in parenting, budgeting, nutrition, computer skills, reading, art or anything else you can dream up!
